Peintures et calligraphies du musee de Shangai" presentee au musee Cernuschi, Paris, du 8 mars au 30 juin 2013.00Au XIXeme siecle, la dynastie Qing est ebranlee par la revolte des Taiping et la menace militaire des puissances occidentales. A partir des annees 1840, les villes de Nanjing (Nankin), Yangzhou et Hangzhou sont ravagees par les conflits armes. La communaute d’artistes qui avaient participe au rayonnement exceptionnel de ces cites au XVIIIe siecle, est dispersee.0De nombreux peintres et calligraphes fuient les conflits et convergent vers la region de Shanghai ou se developpe une nouvelle culture influencee par les echanges avec l’Occident.0Ces bouleversements historiques sont a l’origine d’un profond bouleversement culturel mais aussi d’un veritable renouveau des arts caracterise par la liberation du trait et l’irruption de la couleur

Le remontage (d'une oeuvre endommagée) est comparable à la consultation d'un médecin par un malade gravement atteint : il se remettra grâce à la compétence d'un bon médecin, mais mourra à cause de la prescription d'un mauvais praticien. Trop rares sont les Occidentaux qui savent que les anciens Chinois se souciaient déjà au 8e siècle de la restauration de leurs oeuvres d'art sur soie et papier. Entre le 16e et le 18e siècle, les lettrés. particulièrement préoccupés par la destinée de leurs collections, élaborent une éthique de la conservation-restauration qui n'a rien à envier aux considérations les plus modernes. De la conception même du rouleau aux vertus insectifuges des bâtons d'enroulement, en passant par les conseils de manipulation, le maître mot est la prévention.
