Biografie druhého československého prezidenta je rozdělena do dvou částí. Předkládaný první díl čtenáře seznamuje s osobností Edvarda Beneše mezi lety 1884-1935, tj. v době, kdy Edvard Beneš postupně stoupá českou společností a politikou až k prezidentskému úřadu. Čtenář má tak příležitost seznámit se s výjimečným politickým osudem mimořádně pracovitého a cílevědomého studenta, učitele i politika, pro něhož se vznik, rozvoj a obrana novodobého československého státu staly životním posláním.

El siglo XX checo se ha caracterizado por ser muy violento: dos guerras mundiales, la ocupación alemana de Checoslovaquia y después la soviética. Al fin, vino en 1989 la liberación y el restablecimiento de una república democrática. El contenido de esta Jornada son breves ensayos biográficos sobre los tres hombres que más han influido en la historia moderna de los checos y los eslovacos. Masaryk, profesor de filosofía en la Universidad de Praga, luchó durante la primera guerra mundial por la independencia de los checos y los eslovacos; logró fundar la república checoslovaca y fue su presidente de 1918 a 1935. Su sucesor Benes, lo fue de 1935 a 1938, y después de 1945 a 1948. Dubcek fue la figura principal de la "primavera de Praga" en 1968.
