Alain Platel : Platel noemt zichzelf geen echte choreograaf, maar eerder een regisseur, en het dansplatform les ballets C de la B een uit de hand gelopen grap. Toch kan je niet voorbij aan zijn nationale en internationale succes. Elke wereldtournee start en eindigt in Gent, zijn thuisbasis, waar hij in de jaren tachtig al experimenteerde met bewegingstheater. In die beginperiode combineerde hij het theater met zijn werk als orthopedagoog met mentaal gehandicapte kinderen. Hun kwetsbaarheid en ongecontroleerde bewegingen bepaalden in hoge mate zijn choreografisch alfabet. Want de kunst van het dansen op zich interesseert hem niet. Het is hem niet te doen om de welsprekendheid van het lichaam, maar om wat kunst vandaag te zeggen heeft. Het gaat hem niet om beweging, maar om bewogenheid.
