Abstract

Since the 1st January 2015, the Belgian Government decide to force the use of a fraud control system to ensure that all Horeca operators follow the tax and social regulations. The Horeca sector has unfortunately a bad reputation regarding the fraud. We are now at the end of 2017 and since the obligation to use a black box in 2015, the companies active in this sector had already published their annual accounts at the National Bank of Belgium. So these accounting information are already available for a first study of impact. This research thesis includes two main investigations:•What impact has had the « black box » regulation on the Horeca sector?•Is it possible to analyse this impact by means of the annuals accounts? We start by an analysis of the sector and of the Belgian economy as a whole to try to understand the main characteristics of the Horeca sector in terms of activities, workforce, tax regulation, social regulation, fraud. Then we quickly present the main actors of the sector. After that we present the timeframe of the introduction of the black box in the sector and we explain concretely what a black box and a cash register system is.Next we present our identification of the accounts concerned by the black box regulation. Then we present our method to use the Belgian « chart of accounts » to identify an impact of the black box regulation. We also study the limit of accounting information regarding this impact study. We try to overcome these difficulties through our analysis. In the analysis and results part of this project thesis, we analyse all the accounts identified and we look if there is an impact on the accounts and what is it. If there is no way to analyse the account identified, we try to propose an alternative. Finally we come to the conclusion in which we try to answer our two original questions.

Abstract

This book is about the concept of “Quality of Life”. What is necessary for quality of life, and how can it be measured? The approach is a multicriterial scheme reduction which prevents as much information loss as possible when shifting from the set of partial criteria to their convolution. This book is written for researchers, analysts and graduate and postgraduate students of mathematics and economics.

Abstract

To promote scientific understanding of surface processes in East Asia, we have published details of the CMADS dataset in the journal, Water, and expect that users around the world will learn about CMADS datasets while promoting the development of hydrometeorological disciplines in East Asia. We hope and firmly believe that scientific development in East Asia and our understanding of this typical region will be further advanced.

Abstract

After the successful conclusion of the Joint Meeting of IUFRO’s 7.03.05 & 7.03.10 working parties and given the exciting and novel studies that have been presented in the framework of this meeting, we decided to present some of these studies in the current Special Issue of Forests. To make this issue more appealing and interesting to everyone in the field of Forest Protection, studies that cover a wide range of topics were selected, ranging from ecology and phylogeography to forest management and protection. More importantly, as these studies refer to pests and pathogens from different parts of the world, it is expected that the knowledge gained can be further used in the protection of natural environment worldwide.

Abstract

Microgrids are a growing segment of the energy industry, representing a paradigm shift from centralized structures toward more localized, autonomous, dynamic, and bi-directional energy networks, especially in cities and communities. The ability to isolate from the larger grid makes microgrids resilient, while their capability of forming scalable energy clusters permits the delivery of services that make the grid more sustainable and competitive. Through an optimal design and management process, microgrids could also provide efficient, low-cost, clean energy and help to improve the operation and stability of regional energy systems. This book covers these promising and dynamic areas of research and development and gathers contributions on different aspects of microgrids in an aim to impart higher degrees of sustainability and resilience to energy systems.

Abstract

Dear Colleagues,Supramolecular systems (calixarenes, cyclodextrins, polymers, peptides, etc.) have attracted special attention due to their excellent therapeutic properties for biomedical applications such as gene and drug delivery. Numerous biomaterials-based supramolecular systems have been developed in the last decade for enhancing of biocompatibility and pharmacological activity. In particular, supramolecular nanomaterials are considered a hot research topic, because nanomedicine has become an interesting tool for the treatment of genetic diseases or cancer. Nevertheless, novel systems and their properties are being continuously studied, contributing to the development of efficient delivery systems. This Special Issue provides and highlights current progress in the use of the supramolecular systems for boosting gene and drug delivery. Preparation, characterization, and use of these systems, as well as the latest developments in this research field, are especially welcome.Authors are encorauged to submit original research articles and reviews in this promising research field.
