In deze lectorale rede gaat Bauke Koekkoek in op de verhouding tussen onbegrepen gedrag en samenleving, bekeken vanuit veiligheidsperspectief. Na een sociaalwetenschappelijke verkenning van dit fenomeen, focust hij op het omgaan met mensen met onbegrepen gedrag, vanuit politie en in samenwerking met burgers en andere publieke professionals.
