In deze scriptie wordt de ontwikkeling van een applicatie voor het automatisch segmenterenvan etnische muziekstukken toegelicht. Hierbij wordt gebruik gemaakt van zowel bestaande alseigen ontworpen algoritmen en technieken binnen de signaalanalyse en beeldverwerking. Debestaande algoritmen hebben reeds hun prestaties bewezen in verschillende thesisen en worden geoptimaliseerd voor deze etnische muziek. Zowel de constant Q transformatieals Mel-frequentie cepstrum komen aan bod. De scriptie valt uiteen in vier grote delen: hetdetecteren van overgangen in het muziekstuk met behulp van signaalanalyse, het detecteren vande structuur met behulp van beeldverwerking, het ontwerpen van een geschikte gegevenstructuurvoor de hiërachische segmentatie en het ontwikkelen van een gebruiksvriendelijke interface voorhet weergeven en manipuleren van die segmentatie. De applicatie wordt ontwikkeld in Javaen steunt op de applicatie Tarsos. Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van verschillende klassen uit het Tarsos-project. This paper discusses the development of an application for automatic audio segmentation and focuses on ethnic music.Both existing and personally designed algorithms and techniques in signal analysis and image processing have been used to this end.The value of the existing algorithms has already been demonstrated in multiple papers and they have been optimised for this ethnic music.Both the constant Q transform and the Mel-frequency cepstrum are being discussed.The thesis is divided into four major parts: detecting changes in the track by using signal analysis, the detection of the song structure by using image processing, the design of a suitable data structure for the hierarchical segmentation and the development of a user interface for displaying and manipulating the segmentation.The application is developed in Java and relies on the application Tarsos. Multiple classes from the Tarsos project are used.
