"Des idées reçues sur l'Afrique ? Aujourd'hui, en France ? Certes, les préjugés sont tenaces, c'est même à ça qu'on les reconnaît, et nombreux sont les Français qui se sentent encore autorisés à asséner des jugements aussi définitifs que péremptoires sur les Africains. Mais ils le font désormais en connaissance de cause, est-il permis d'en douter ? De toute évidence, oui ! Aussi n'a-t-il pas paru superflu de donner la parole à des citoyens africains. Hommes de théâtre, écologistes, musiciens, paysans, créateurs d'entreprises, militants altermondialistes, responsables syndicaux et associatifs... tous - hommes et femmes - ont en commun d'être originaires d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Ils y vivent, y travaillent, et livrent ici leurs témoignages en nous éclairant sur des aspects de la réalité africaine qui ne sont pas forcément les plus sombres, ni les plus dramatiques. Un éclairage qui en vaut bien un autre, d'autant plus qu'ils se montrent à la fois ouverts et lucides. Et s'ils n'hésitent pas à analyser les maux qui rongent leurs pays, ils parlent avant tout de leur travail, évoquant avec passion leurs réalisations, leurs combats, leurs réussites même ! Si bien qu'ils nous amènent à découvrir une société africaine active, solidaire, combative. Et surtout plus proche. Plus humaine.
