Most oppose immigration and economic globalization, and many appear disrespectful of the rule of law, unless they have power to say what the law is. Some activists and analysts opposed to those movements say the answer is to reject all forms of nationalism. Others call for what they see as better, more egalitarian, inclusive, and law-abiding nationalisms. None, however, have provided much guidance as to how better forms of nationalism, ones that might eventually move the world beyond the inequities of its current systems of nation-states, can be achieved. He discusses examples from around the world, including Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, Scotland, Denmark, India and Israel. He particularly explores how and why Donald J. Trump's "America First" nationalism can and should be challenged by narratives stressing American commitments to democracy, a more perfect union, and the expansion of the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all people, of all colors, everywhere"--
