Much has been written, and very well written, on the collection in the 19th century in and through fiction: it is therefore another path that the voices gathered here would like to explore. Based on collections of all kinds (private and public, literary, historical and artistic, editorial and museological), from a necessarily and resolutely interdisciplinary perspective, the aim is to question the specificity of the act and of the discourse of the collection in the 19th century, and to think of it as a figuration and a fiction, a production and a projection of a, or even of the, 19th century. Beaucoup a été écrit, et fort bien écrit, sur la collection au XIXe siècle dans et par la fiction : c’est donc une autre voie que les voix ici réunies voudraient explorer. À partir de collections de tous ordres (privé et public, littéraire, historique et artistique, éditorial et muséal), selon une perspective nécessairement et résolument interdisciplinaire, il s’agit d’interroger la spécificité du geste – à la geste de la Révolution attaché – et du discours de la collection au XIXe siècle, et de les penser comme figuration et fiction, production et projection d’un, voire du XIXe siècle, bref : le XIXe siècle à l’épreuve de la collection.

Johann Klaj (circa 1616-1656) is considered one of the most formally and linguistically experimental poets of the German Baroque, though his period of productivity lasted only a single decade. This study addresses and contextualizes Klaj's work from a variety of perspectives, with a focus on aesthetics, rhetoric, art history, music history, and media history, along with the cultural and social backdrop of his poetry. Johann Klaj (um 1616-1656) gilt als einer der formal und sprachlich experimentierfreudigsten Dichter des deutschen Barock. Sein in nur gut einem Jahrzehnt entstandenes Werk wird hier aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln eingehend behandelt und kontextualisiert. Das Interesse gilt sowohl ästhetischen und rhetorischen Fragen als auch kunst-, musik- und medienhistorischen Aspekten sowie den kulturellen und sozialen Rahmenbedingungen seines Schaffens.

Kürschners Deutscher Literatur-Kalender - die bewährte Dokumentation der zeitgenössischen deutschsprachigen Literaturszene - umfasst in seiner 67. Ausgabe Einträge zu ca. 13.000 Schriftstellerinnen und Schriftstellern. Ohne literaturkritische Wertung stellt der Literatur-Kalender die lebenden Verfasserinnen und Verfasser schöngeistiger Literatur in deutscher Sprache vor - unabhängig von Staatsangehörigkeit und geographischem Lebens- und Wirkungsbereich. Die Artikel informieren über Adressen, Lebensdaten, Mitgliedschaften in Fachverbänden und literarischen Vereinigungen, literarische Preise sowie die Veröffentlichungen der Schriftstellerinnen und Schriftsteller. Neu bearbeitet und aktualisiert wurden auch die umfangreichen Verzeichnisse im Anhang: über 750 literarische Übersetzerinnen und Übersetzer (mit Sprachenregister), 1.250 Verlage, 555 Literaturpreise mit den Preisträgern der letzten Jahre, mehr als 550 Fachverbände und literarische Vereinigungen, Literaturhäuser, etwa 370 literarische Zeitschriften und Periodika sowie literarische Agenturen, Kulturredaktionen von Rundfunk- und Fernsehanstalten und literarische Feuilletons werden aufgeführt. The 67th edition of Kürschners Deutscher Literatur-Kalender, reliably documenting the contemporary literary scene in German-speaking countries, records some 13,000 authors. Expressing no lit-crit judgements, the Literatur-Kalender presents living authors who write in German, whatever their nationality or geographical location may be. Entries provide information on address, biographical data, membership in literary organizations and associations, literary awards as well as each writer's publications. The extensive indexes, to be found in the appendix, have also been revised and updated thoroughly: they now contain more than 750 translators of literature (along with an index of languages), 1,250 publishing houses, 555 literary awards including recent winners, 550 associations, literary organizations, literary centres (Literaturhäuser) etc., 370 literary journals and periodicals, 72 literary agencies, radio and TV stations' arts departments as well as literary features to be found in the printed media.

"Dealing with the most topical questions of the time, Sofia Tolstaya’s artistic works—from parables to short stories, novellas, and memoirs—show deep insights into the historical context of nineteenth century Russia. In his lengthy review of My Life (along with other Tolstaya publications) in Canadian Slavonic Papers, the eminent Tolstoy scholar Hugh McLean (2011) laments the fact that it has taken so long (almost a century after her death) to focus scholarly attention on Sofia Tolstaya, and that there has been no unified publication of her works, scattered as they are among dated journals or not published at all. This book aims to help fill this lacuna (in part) by (a) offering a critical introduction to her literary output, as a writer in her own right, and (b) presenting for the first time an anthology of her main artistic works, some in fresh English translation, others that have never been translated before."--

The academic career of internationally recognized Professor of Slavic Studies Magnus Ljunggren spans more than a half century. Here he looks back over his meetings with prominent members of the Russian intelligentsia who from the liberalizing XXII Party Congress in 1961 and down to the present have in various forms struggled with the totalitarian structures of Soviet and post-Soviet society. As a literary scholar Ljunggren has focused on Andrei Bely's novel Petersburg, Russian Symbolism and Russian Silver Age literature and culture. His memoirs reflect on how his study of Symbolism and his commitment to the Russian civil rights movement over the years have stimulated each other and contributed to a deeper understanding of Russia's distinctive character. Ljunggren's gallery of intimate and colorful portraits includes Bulat Okudzhava, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Joseph Brodsky, Viktor Shklovsky, Lidia Chukovskaya, and Nina Berberova.
