This book looks beyond fidelity to emphasize how each adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s short stories functions as a creative response to a text, foregrounding the significance of its fluidity, transtextuality, and genre. The adaptations analysed range from the first to the most recent and draw attention to the fluidity of textual sources, the significance of generic conventions and space in film, the generic potentialities latent within Lawrence’s tales, and the evolving nature of adaptation. By engaging with recent advances in adaptation theory to discuss the evolving critical reception of the author’s work and the role of the reader, this book provides a fresh, forward-looking approach to Lawrence studies.

This book presents new readings of D.H. Lawrence’s later novels from the perspective of established critical theory and contemporary thought: a specific critical theory or critical perspective is selected and applied to each novel in order to present particular interpretations of each. Although remaining faithful to one’s personal desires without being unduly concerned with the outside world is considered a Lawrentian virtue, I would like to show another Lawrence who was sensitive enough to the outside world and to the social discourses of his time to employ elements of them in his novels, although subtly, and with critical shifts and displacements. Lawrence is a writer who continually draws lines of flight to escape from capitalist societies that ascribe essential value and power to money.

The third volume completes both the Cambridge Edition of D. H. Lawrence's Poems and the Cambridge Edition of the Works of D. H. Lawrence, in which it is the fortieth volume. The uncollected poems and early versions presented in the volume offer a new idea of the scope and scale of his verse-writing. The poems that Lawrence saw published in seven collections during his lifetime, and that appeared after his death in a further two collections, Nettles (1930) and Last Poems (1932), are assembled, edited and annotated in Volumes I and II of the Cambridge Edition of The Poems. Volume III gives access to more than 120 poems which Lawrence either chose not to collect or was, for various reasons, unable to collect during his lifetime, and which have therefore been largely neglected. The volume also includes more than 190 early and variant versions.

Desire for Love: The Secret Longings of the Human Heart in D. H. Lawrence's Works is a collection of essays dedicated to several novels, novellas, short stories and non-fiction by D. H. Lawrence, one of the great 20th-century English writers. Other the help of the psychoanalytic-textual approach, Marina Ragachewskaya analyses subtle expressions of the emotional sphere in Lawrence's characters and their desire for love, which is realised linguistically, stylistically and symbolically.
