Essa publicação vem suprir a necessidade de materiais didáticos específicos sobre a atenção à saúde de povos indígenas que vivem na zona rural, isolados ou em áreas de difícil acesso. Nessas circunstâncias, a alta prevalência das doenças de pele, com características de baixa mortalidade, mas com impacto na qualidade de vida, tem feito parte da realidade dessas populações e, em geral, é um problema relegado a segundo plano.O objetivo deste livro é colaborar com o dia a dia dos profissionais de saúde que trabalham na atenção básica, especialmente em regiões em que a presença do dermatologista nem sempre é possível.

The book brings the experience of the author in his coexistence with the Wari '(or Pacaás Novos), the most numerous indigenous people in the state of Rondônia, with about 2,700 individuals. It presents, in precise and pleasant language, a comprehensive description of the local food and nutrition conditions, taking into account the cultural specificity of the Amazonian communities. The work demonstrates how important it is not to dispense with careful contextualization of the findings in the set of native practices and the ideas that guide them, whatever the field under investigation.
