Marina Abramovic incarne l'art de la performance : sans elle, cet art n'aurait jamais atteint les musées ni les écoles comme il le fait aujourd'hui. Pour elle, l'art est une question de transformation, l'oeuvre n'est jamais terminée. Le processus est plus important que le résultat. Ce catalogue d'exposition donne à voir les questions que l'artiste se pose sur le pouvoir, la hiérarchie, l'art et l'existence. Un demi siècle de son travail a été rassemblé pour 3 expositions respectives (2 en 2017 et une en 2018), incluant photographies, films, peintures, objets et surtout, ses "body-performances". Dans son interview, Marina Abramovic répond à la question de la fonction de l'artiste : "to be consciousness-raising".
