The 2004 IFIP International Conference on Intelligence in Communication S- tems(INTELLCOMM2004),heldinBangkok,Thailand,23–26November2004, was the successor and an expansion of SMARTNET, a series of annual conf- ences on intelligence in networks held during 1995–2003 under the auspices of IFIP TC6’s Working Group 6. 7. The Internet and Web provide more connection facilities, hence the man-man, man-machine and machine-machine interactions will increase and communication will have an important role in modern s- tems. Inordertoobtaine?ectiveande?cientcommunication, artistic, socialand technical issues have to be tackled in a holistic and integrated manner. However, communicationtechniques, conceptsandsolutionswhichhavebeendevelopedso far treat these issues separately, so that there arises a need for communication researchers and practitioners in di?erent ?elds (engineering, science and arts) to meet, share their experience and explore all possibilities of developing in- grated and advanced solutions which incorporate ideas from such disciplines as communication arts, art design, linguistics, Web technologies, computer system architecture and protocols, computer science and arti?cial intelligence. INTELLCOMM 2004 was jointly sponsored by IFIP WG 6. 7: Smart N- works and WG 6. 4: Internet Applications Engineering and aimed to provide an international forum which brings academia, researchers, practitioners and s- vice providers together. The discussion areas covered the latest research topics andadvancedtechnologicalsolutionsintheareaofintelligenceincommunication systems, ranging from architectures for adaptable networks/services and Sem- ticWeb/Webservicestechnologiestointelligentserviceapplicationinterfaceand intelligent human interaction. INTELLCOMM 2004 received 112 paper submissions from 28 countries. From these, 24 were accepted, and are included in this proceedings. There were also 3 papers accepted for poster presentation, published separately.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 4th Joint International Semantic Technology Conference, JIST 2014, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in November 2014. The theme of the JIST 2014 conference was "Open Data and Semantic Technology". JIST 2014 conference consisted of main technical tracks including regular paper track (full and short papers), in-use track and special track, poster and demo session, two workshops and four tutorials. The 32 papers in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 71 submissions. The paper topics are divided into eight categories: Ontology and Reasoning (7 papers), Linked Data (7 papers), Learning and Discovery (3 papers), RDF and SPARQL (3 papers), Ontological Engineering (3 papers), Semantic Social Web (3 papers), Search and Querying (3 papers) and Applications of Semantic Technology (3 papers).

The International Conference on Asian Digital Libraries 2005 (ICADL 2005), held in Bangkok, Thailand, 12-15 December 2005, was the 8th in a series of annual internationalconferences organizedby digital libraryresearchersin Asia. ICADL was set up to facilitate and stimulate the exchange of digital library research, information, and technology in the Asian region while also functi- ing as a sister conference to its North American and European counterparts, i.e., JCDL and ECDL. The theme of ICADL 2005 was Digital Libraries: - plementing Strategies and Sharing Experiences, covering strategies, implem- tation experiences, systems, techniques, management, and applications. ICADL 2005 provided a forum for sharing experiences and exchanging research results, innovative ideas, and state-of-the-art developments among researchers, edu- tors, practitioners, and policy makers from a variety of disciplines such as c- puter science, libraryand informationscience, archivalandmuseum studies, and knowledge management. ICADL 2005 also marked the special occasion of the 50th birthday anniv- sary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Patron of the Thai Library Association. ICADL 2005 received 164 paper submissions from 17 countries, including a good number from outside the Asian region. From these, 40 full papers, 15 short papers, and 15 poster papers were accepted and are included in these proceedings.Eachpaper wasreviewedby the ProgramCommittee membersand additional co-reviewers. The technical program comprised one day of tutorials, followed by keynote and invited speeches, paper and poster sessions as well as a post-conference workshop on metadata and Dublin Core.

Welcome to the 11th International Conference on Database Systems for - vanced Applications (DASFAA 2006)! This year's conference was held in S- gapore where DASFAA was last held in 1997. DASFAA 2006 continued the tradition of providing an international forum for technical discussion among - searchers, developersandusersofdatabasesystemsfromacademia, businessand industry. Organizing DASFAA 2006 was a very rewarding experience it gave me an excellent opportunity to work with many ?ne colleagues both within and outside Singapore. I would like to thank Kian-Lee Tan and Vilas Wuwongse for putting together a world-class Program Committee. The committee worked very hard to bring a high-quality technical program to the conference. DASFAA 2006 also included an industrial track. David Cheung and Hwee Hwa Pang co-chaired this track and set up a separate committee to assess the quality of the submitted papers. The conference also featured three tutorials: (1) Database Watermarking by Radu Sion, (2) Multilingual Database Systems by Jayant R. Haritsa, and (3) Video Sequence Indexing and Query Processing by Xiaofang Zhou, and a panel session. I would like to thank Ee Peng Lim and Krithi Ramamritham for their e?ort in organizing the tutorials and panel, respectively. This conference would not have been possible without the support of many other colleagues: Tok-Wang Ling (Honorary Conference Chair), Mong Li Lee (Publication Chair), Masatoshi Yoshikawa (Publicity Chair), Sourav Saha Bhowmick and Anthony Kum Hoe Tung (Local Arrangement Co-chairs), Chee Yong Chan (Treasurer), and Mrs. Siew Foong Ho (Secretary).
