"This study analyses how immigrant and ethnic-minority writers have challenged the understanding of certain national literatures and have markedly changed them. In other national contexts, ideologies and institutions have contained the challenge these writers pose to national literatures. Case studies of the emergence and recognition of immigrant and ethnic-minority writing come from fourteen national contexts. These include classical immigration countries, such as Canada and the United States, countries where immigration accelerated and entered public debate after World War II, such as the United Kingdom, France and Germany, as well as countries rarely discussed in this context, such as Brazil and Japan. Finally, this study uses these individual analyses to discuss this writing as an international phenomenon" --

Im vorliegenden Buch geht es nicht um Mehrsprachigkeitsforschung an sich, sondern darum, den mehr oder weniger stringenten Zusammenhang von individueller oder gesellschaftlicher Mehrsprachigkeit und Kreativität im Allgemeinen bzw. literarischer Kreativität im Besonderen zu erforschen. Der interdisziplinäre Ansatz besteht darin, diesen angenommenen Zusammenhang – die deutschsprachige Literatur des 20. Jahrhunderts und des beginnenden 21. Jahrhunderts lassen einen solchen vermuten – aus der Perspektive der einzelnen Fächer zu untersuchen. Difficile de définir la notion de littérature migrante. Sous l’angle de la traduction, la catégorie devient pourtant plus identifiable. Les littératures migrantes ont pour principale caractéristique de produire une vaste translation culturelle d’un champ à l’autre, soit que l’écrivain ait adopté la langue du pays d’accueil et opère lui-même le processus de transfert, soit qu’il écrive encore dans sa langue d’écriture première et que ce travail appartienne au traducteur. Comment dès lors, écrivain ou traducteur, traduisent-ils à destination d’un lectorat qui les ignore ou ne les reconnaîtra pas des références culturelles, des accents ou autres distorsions phonétiques, voire des éléments relevant de codes minorisés ? Si l’écrivain allophone peut avoir recours à des pratiques translinguistiques massives dans son texte, le traducteur dispose-t-il, dans sa pratique, d’une même liberté ? Ce sont là quelques-unes des interrogations auxquelles le volume se propose de répondre.

Comparative Literature is changing fast with methodologies, topics, and research interests emerging and remerging. The fifth volume of ICLA 2016 proceedings, Dialogues between Media, focuses on the current interest in inter-arts studies, as well as papers on comics studies, further testimony to the fact that comics have truly arrived in mainstream academic discourse."Adaptation" is a key term for the studies presented in this volume; various articles discuss the adaptation of literary source texts in different target media - cinematic versions, comics adaptations, TV series, theatre, and opera. Essays on the interplay of media beyond adaptation further show many of the strands that are woven into dialogues between media, and thus the expanding range of comparative literature.
