Abstract

Despite the fact that there are three different curricula available for teachers, who teach English in the second degree of vocational education, in none of them is clearly stated what exactly should be taught. Only a list of recommendations can be found but it still remains the teachers' job to decide what he will teach his pupils. The first goal of this research project is to find out which grammatical items should be taught, in order for the pupils to reach the level of 'basic user' (A1 CEFR). Subsequently, I will try to find out what is the best way to teach grammar in vocational education. It is clearly stated in the different curricula English in VE that the linguistic component is subordinate to the communicative component. A suitable approach will be sought, keeping the curricula and target group in mind. The result of this quest will be examples of activities that can be done in the second degree of vocational education. (Bron: auteur)
