The 8th issue of the Transactions on Computational Science has been divided into two parts. Part I, prepared by Guest Editors Nadia Nedjah, Abdelhamid Bouchachia, and Luiza de Macedo Mourelle, consists of 5 detailed papers, presenting state-of-the-art research results on adaptive models for evolutionary computation and their application in various dynamic environments. The 6 papers in Part II take an in-depth look at selected computational science research in the areas of geometric computing, Euclidean distance transform, distributed systems, segmentation, visualization of monotone data, and data interpolation.

The LNCS journal Transactions on Computational Science reflects recent developments in the field of Computational Science, conceiving the field not as a mere ancillary science but rather as an innovative approach supporting many other scientific disciplines. The journal focuses on original high-quality research in the realm of computational science in parallel and distributed environments, encompassing the facilitating theoretical foundations and the applications of large-scale computations and massive data processing. Transactions on Computational Science III is devoted to the topic of computer systems research and its application, and is divided in two parts.
