Abstract

16 variables coming from the World Value Survey (WVS) that were answered by the Swedish population were analyzed. Several methods of analysis were utilized. Specifically, EFA, CATPCA, CFA and MGCFA where performed. Results demonstrated two distinct constructs (both when the variables were treated as numerical and as ordinal). CFA results tested the measurement model that derived from the EFA, and the MGCFA concluded that indeed the Swedish men and women perceive similarly the constructs. Even though full metric invariance was reached, full scalar invariance was not achieved. Instead, partial scalar invariance was attained when the item referring to homosexuality was allowed to be freely estimated. Further research should be directed towards analyzing the particular set of items with the use of a multilevel SEM model.
