"Pediatric Sonography, Fourth Edition gives you a complete working knowledge of the latest scanning technologies and the clinical applications of ultrasound in pediatric and adolescent patients. Readers will find just the guidance they need to determine the most appropriate imaging method for evaluating a specific clinical problem, conduct the sonographic examination, and interpret the findings. The book shows the sonographic appearance of normal anatomy and disease processes within each organ system and points out technical and interpretive artifacts and errors that can affect evaluations. This edition features more than 1,800 clear, sharp images, including over 300 full-color images throughout. Other highlights include discussions of the uses and limitations of mobile instrumentation and expanded coverage of ultrasound-guided interventional procedures"--Provided by publisher.

Pediatric Sonography has long been recognized as the leading technical reference in its field. Now, the fifth edition continues in that tradition, providing up-to-date guidance on sonographic image decision-making, examination, and interpretation in both children and adolescents. Each chapter covers a specific organ system and the disease processes associated with it. Overflowing with over 1800 updated figures, including Doppler sonograms and full color illustrations. Briskly covers all aspects of sonography in children and adolescents, including imaging techniques, instrumentation, examination, and diagnosis. Depicts the presentation of normal anatomy and identifies technical errors that may affect your interpretation of the sonographic image.Enrich Your eBook Reading Experience with Enhanced Video, Audio and Interactive Capabilities! Improvements in surgical and medical management of congenital heart disease (CHD) result in an increased life expectancy and a greater number of children living into adulthood. Consequently, adult cardiologists are caring for increasing numbers of patients with congenital heart defects. In many instances, these patients have undergone palliative but not corrective procedures and may be at higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. In the past several years, the use of CT angiography (CTA) has increased, driven mainly by technical improvements that allow shorter imaging times and high spatial and temporal resolution. Thus, CTA combines widespread availability with the advantages of volumetric data acquisition, short acquisition times, and the possibility of simultaneous evaluation of myocardial and extracardiac structures, ventricular function and coronary anatomy making it a very appealing imaging modality in CHD patients. CT Atlas of Adult Congenital Heart Disease is an all inclusive, invaluable tool to describe the features of classic CHD, hereditary cardiomyopathies and aortopathies. It includes comprehensive pathology descriptions and discussions of the utility of CTA in the diagnosis of all forms of adult CHD. The many CTA images and illustrations demonstrate the pathologies and provide a framework for recognizing patterns of CHD in adult patients. It also includes pre-procedural pediatric CHD cases to allow better understanding of CHD anatomy and pathophysiology, and thus will be essential reading for all pediatric and adult cardiologists and radiologists involved in the management of these patients.
