Cet ouvrage prend pour objet d'étude les échanges langagiers entre les entreprises et l'économie. Les changements récents intervenus dans l'environnement économique ont en effet transformé en profondeur la façon dont les organisations communiquent en interne et avec l'extérieur, entraînant ainsi une modification des rapports entre le langage, les entreprises et l'économie. Dans une première section, « Communiquer dans l'entreprise », sont abordés différents aspects de la communication interne de l'entreprise : les enjeux économiques du multilinguisme et les problèmes de coordination et de traduction qu'il pose, la problématique de l'interculturalité et la gestion de l'incertitude informationnelle. La deuxième section, « Présenter l'offre », présente les enjeux de communication externe posés par les mutations économiques. Enfin, la dernière section, « Parler de l'économie», examine le rapport entre le discours sur l'économie et l'évolution de l'économie «réelle».
