This monograph on the work of Dutch artist Han Schuil appears on the occasion of a solo exhibition at the historic Oud Amelisweerd estate, organised by Centraal Museum Utrecht. Both the exhibition and this book present an overview of Schuil?s work over the past two decades. As its title indicates, it focuses on three series: ? (untitled), BLAST, and HEAT. In each, the possibilities of paintings and how they produce meaning are investigated through monumental works on aluminium, in ways as enigmatic as they are concrete.
