Die gesamtwirtschaftliche Entwicklung im Dienstleistungssektor verläuft in Deutschland in den letzten Jahren positiv, die Entwicklung beim Export von Dienstleistungen ist aber eher zurückhaltend. Der Bedeutungszuwachs von Dienstleistungen spiegelt sich somit noch nicht in den Exportzahlen der deutschen Dienstleistungswirtschaft wider. Da im Rahmen des Fabriklebenszyklusses eine Vielzahl (wissensintensiver) Dienstleistungen benötigt wird, bestehen für deutsche Unternehmen besondere Potenziale, ihre Dienstleistungen auch international anzubieten. Dieses Buch zielt darauf ab, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse sowie praxisnahe Methoden und Konzepte zur Stärkung der Internationalisierungsfähigkeit deutscher Dienstleistungsanbieter und zum Aufbau eines attraktiven Angebotes auf dem internationalen Markt aufzuzeigen. The disproportionate aging of the population of working age in many nations around the world is a unique occurrence in the history of humankind. In the light of demographic change, it is becoming increasingly important to develop and use the potential of older employees. This edited volume Age-differentiated Work Systems provides a final report on a six-year priority program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and presents selected research findings of 17 interdisciplinary project teams. The idea is that it will serve both as a reference book and overview of the current state of research in ergonomics, occupational psychology and related disciplines. It provides new models, methods, and procedures for analyzing and designing age-differentiated work systems with the aim of supporting subject matter experts from different areas in their decisions on labor and employment policies. Therefore over 40 laboratory experiments involving 2,000 participants and 50 field studies involving over 25,000 employees were conducted. Further objectives of the edited volume were to provide a pluridisciplinary compilation of the extensive information acquired over the six-year program period, to illustrate the range of the research field, and to convey an integrated understanding of age-differentiated work systems to readers.

Die wirtschaftliche Situation produzierender Unternehmen in Deutschland wird durch die zunehmende Globalisierung von Produktionskapazitäten und den damit verbundenen erhöhten Wettbewerb stark beeinflusst. Zudem ergibt sich aus dem fortgeschrittenen Wandel der Absatzmärkte von Verkäufer- zu Käufermärkten eine hohe Marktdynamik. Den daraus entstehenden veränderlichen Marktanforderungen begegnen produzierende Unternehmen meist mit Hilfe von umfangreichen Flexibilisierungsmaßnahmen, die eine Anpassung ihrer Produktionssysteme ermöglichen. Zugleich handelt es sich hierbei um soziotechnische Systeme, also Arbeitssysteme, in denen Mensch und Maschine zielgerichtet zusammenwirken, die eines Mindestmaßes an Stabilität bedürfen, um bspw. Arbeitssicherheit zu gewährleisten, Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter dauerhaft binden zu können und als attraktive Arbeitgeber gute Arbeitsbedingungen bieten zu können. Für den Produktionsstandort Deutschland sind daher geeignete Strategien zur Erfüllung dieser heterogenen Anforderungen von großer Bedeutung. Der Ansatz flexible Produktionskapazitäten flexibel zu managen wurde in einem Forschungsvorhaben aufgegriffen und in enger Zusammenarbeit von Unternehmen und Forschungseinrichtungen untersucht. Die entstandenen Ergebnisse sind im Buch praxisnah dargestellt. Darüber hinaus werden Handlungsempfehlungen für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen beschrieben. Im Buch wird die Flexibilität produzierender Unternehmen sowohl hinsichtlich ihrer Beschäftigten als auch hinsichtlich ihrer Produktionssysteme betrachtet. In diesem Zusammenhang werden auch das Management von Kompetenzen und die Unterstützung von Lernprozessen thematisiert. Schließlich werden auch die Personalüberlassung und die damit verbundenen sozialen und fachlichen Integrationsprozesse erörtert.

Das Buch richtet sich an Dienstleistungsmanager und -planer und beinhaltet ein Kompendium von Modellen, Methoden und Werkzeugen zur Messung, Bewertung und Steuerung der Produktivität von wissensintensiven Dienstleistungen. Neben einer modellbasierten, ganzheitlichen Betrachtung der Produktivität von Dienstleistungen werden die in empirischen Studien identifizierten Stellgrößen vorgestellt und deren Wechselwirkungen in einem System-Dynamics-Modell veranschaulicht. Des Weiteren wird eine Methode zum partizipativen Projektcontrolling eingeführt.
