At that time this elusive and mysterious civilisation was able to give free expression to a rich variety of creative art : intricate and barbaric jewellery ; bronzes, much sought after by the later Romans ; and the little-known temple and tomb figures, where the highly individual Etrusan style reached its peak in works of great tranquillity and beauty.
