This book presents papers which were presented at a seminar held in Sorrento, Italy, in 1981. A broad approach to the question of protein production from legumes in Europe had for some time been considered prudent, and the main aim of the seminar was to explore the potential of peas and lupins as a major components in the protein budget of the E.E.C. Contributions on both peas and lupins are drawn from disciplines spanning basic physiology to field crop production and biochemistry to nutritional value. Current activity in plant breeding is covered and additional breeding objectives are identified.
