This study, which was carried out thanks to a research grant offered by the Auvergne Region and the Blaise Pascal University of Clermont-Ferrand, analyzes the theme of aging in Flaubert's work. The process of aging is configured in several complex ways, capable of translating very poignant aspects of the author's worldview. The idea of aging in Flaubert is a constant and unavoidable thought, consubstantial with life, subject to the implacable law of the "infamous reticent", Time.
