This book provides a comprehensive overview and critical evaluation of the emerging and exciting topic of interoception - the perception of the body's internal state. Interest in the topic has been driven by the observation that interoception appears to affect fundamental psychological processes and numerous physical and mental health conditions. In this book, the major authorities in the field present a discussion of the history of interoception, the neural basis of interoception, and the measurement and models of interoception conceptualization. This is followed by a consideration of the many domains that interoception appears to impact (including social and cognitive abilities and mental and physical health conditions) and differences across demographic groups. Interoception: A Comprehensive Guide also explores real world applications, including training for interoception, the modulation of interoception and the impact of such interventions, and future research directions.

"This book presents an integrated approach for concurrently treating chronic pain and opioid use. Many patients who suffer from chronic pain are also managing opioid medications. Because this population often requires a higher level of care, it is critical for providers to address pain and opioid management together. This book presents an integrated healthcare team approach that helps patients manage opioid use in a structured, safe, and supportive environment while also exploring all of the factors that impact the patients' pain experience. This whole-person approach to care allows for cross-cutting strategies to be applied and maximizes the reduction of suffering. The behavioral treatment strategies in this book can help providers assist patients who are struggling with chronic pain and have relied on opioids at one point. This includes individuals that are considering de-prescribing, are in the process of opioid tapering, have recently discontinued from opioids, or are currently using opioids effectively for pain. Combining expert clinical guidance with the latest research and practical case examples, the book helps practitioners across healthcare disciplines understand their patients, improve rapport and engagement, and implement treatment strategies to help patients live their best lives"--

There are not many books that I have read cover to cover – Many Peaces is one of these. I now think of peace and conflict transformation in different ways, and I will be eternally grateful to Dietrich for lifting me out of the confusion and disillusionment that I was experiencing as a peace educator before his book presented itself to me in the University of Cambridge Library. Hilary Cremin - University of Cambridge, UK The read itself is a transrational, systems journey that requires analysis, synthesis, meditation, and reflection. Practical aspects of this book, specifically film analysis, are helpful to see how elicitive conflict mapping can be applied to understanding real world conflict and suffering. Edward J. Brandmeier - James Madison University, USA This volume provided me with a refreshing view and an opening of thought, resulting in a confident shift in approach towards leader and teacher preparation. The rich, personal and humble storytelling that drew me in at the beginning, liberated me at the final word. Heidi Smith - University of Tasmania, Australia Wolfgang Dietrich is the foremost thinker in the field of peace studies. Gustavo Esteva – Rector Emeritus, Universidad de la Tierra, Mexico This book completes Wolfgang Dietrich’s path-breaking trilogy of the Many Peaces; the foundation of the highly innovative approach to peace and conflict as taught and applied at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Where Volume 1 elaborated the transrational philosophy of the many peaces and Volume 2 discussed the curricular and didactic aspects of elicitive conflict transformation (ECM), Volume 3 provides principles and examples of ECM’s practical application. The author drafts the easy use of ECM as a brand new method of conflict work that can be applied from both intra and interpersonal conflicts to the highest political and diplomatic level. This book would form an excellent basis for leadership and relationship training of future peace workers within the frame of elicitive conflict transformation. .
