Abstract

This book enables readers to become familiar with passive and active realizations of the impedances and important filter transfer functions (TFs). Firstly, time, s, and frequency domain analysis of the R-L, R-C, and R-L-C circuits are discussed. Then, active realizations of the impedances and TFs using different active devices are introduced. Readers will benefit from an example-driven approach to topics such as operational amplifiers, current followers, voltage followers, unity gain inverting amplifiers, negative impedance converters, first-generation current conveyors, second-generation current conveyors, third-generation current conveyors, differential voltage current conveyors, etc. will be introduced, which will be accompanied with a number of examples. Non-ideal gain effects on the performance of the active circuits are also demonstrated. Introduces readers to passive and active realizations of the impedances and important filter transfer functions; Uses over 200 examples to explain concepts being introduced; Uses simple language to make the content accessible by readers with varying backgrounds.

Abstract

This book describes a new way to design and utilize Instrumentation Amplifiers (IAs) by taking advantages of the current-mode (CM) approach. For the first time, all different topologies of CMIAs are discussed and compared, providing a single-source reference for instrumentation and measurement experts who want to choose a topology for a specific application. The authors also explain major challenges in designing CMIAs, so the book can be useful for anyone studying instrumentation amplifiers, and even other analog circuits. Coverage also includes various CM signal processing techniques employed in CMIAs, and applications of the CMIAs in biomedical and data acquisition are demonstrated. Discusses and compares all different current-mode instrumentation amplifier topologies; Includes a technical comparison, discussion, advantages and disadvantages of various current-mode instrumentation amplifiers, not available elsewhere; Explains in tutorial fashion major challenges caused by advancements in technology in instrumentation amplifier design.
