Voor iedereen die wil opkomen voor zichzelf en zijn eigen grenzen en die van anderen wil respecteren. Verhalen over grenzen aftasten, overschrijden, benoemen en respecteren. Frank is nieuw in de buurt. Na zijn scheiding wil hij het liefst met rust gelaten worden en een muur om zich heen bouwen. Zijn enthousiaste buren zien het anders en komen te pas en te onpas bij hem op bezoek. Elke buur heeft zijn eigen problemen, ergernissen en uitdagingen ? professioneel of privé. Dit leidt tot heel wat misverstanden en herkenbare situaties. Dit boek vindt zijn oorsprong in de opleiding ?Assertiviteit en sociale vaardigheden? van SYNTRA Limburg. Cursisten presenteren er aan het einde op een creatieve manier hun leerpunten. Enkele deelnemers schreven samen een verhaal over het stellen van grenzen, over hun eigen worstelingen en hoe ze daar bewust mee omgingen. Het was al lang een droom van Tine Meus om verhalen te schrijven, en deze eindproef legde de basis voor dit boek. Ze beschrijft situaties over grenzen aftasten, grenzen overschrijden, grenzen benoemen en grenzen respecteren. This master paper analyses the 1994 article “Unhappiness and Unemployment” by Andrew E. Clark and Andrew J. Oswald, which reports their findings on the well-being of unemployed workers and related questions. As their study takes a place in the broader context of happiness research, I start with a general introduction to the basic principles of this branch of economics. Secondly, an extensive analysis reveals the scheme, method and results of their data analysis, the most important conclusion being that unemployment is involuntary, since unemployed individuals show higher levels of mental distress then the employed. The following step is to investigating how Clark and Oswald’s findings are followed up in later research in the field, as well as verifying if they also found their way to policy regulations. It will become clear that, although the principal hypothesis and other related findings have been confirmed and intensified on numerous other studies, the implementation on policy levels leave a lot to be desired.
