Legato a Luigi Einaudi da profonda amicizia e reciproca stima, Ernesto Rossi (1897-1967) intrattenne numerosi rapporti con la Banca d'Italia, sia con i massimi vertici sia con i ricercatori, e frequentò assiduamente la Biblioteca del Servizio Studi. In virtù di ciò la raccolta dei libri di economia a lui appartenuti è stata donata alla Biblioteca Paolo Baffi, che ha voluto valorizzarla con la pubblicazione del presente catalogo e del secondo volume della collana. Nelle pagine del catalogo si dà conto non solo delle opere che costituiscono la raccolta, ma anche delle testimonianze materiali presenti sui volumi e dei riferimenti a questi ultimi contenuti nell'epistolario di Rossi e nella documentazione archivistica. Su tali testimonianze si basa il tentativo, che chiude il saggio iniziale, di ricostruire l'insieme dei libri di proprietà che Rossi ebbe con sé in carcere e al confino. A journalist, politician and economist, Ernesto Rossi (1897-1967) was an intransigent anti-Fascist, a stance which led to nine years of imprisonment and four years of internment. He co-authored 'The Ventotene Manifesto' with Altiero Spinelli and was one of the main proponents of European federalism. He had ties of great friendship and reciprocal admiration with Luigi Einaudi and had numerous contacts with the Bank of Italy, both at the highest levels (Donato Menichella and Paolo Baffi) and with the researchers and the Library of the Economic Research Department, to which he was a frequent visitor. This explains why his personal collection of books on economics is today preserved by the Paolo Baffi Library, which has decided to showcase it and publish a catalogue (L'eredità di Ernesto Rossi. Il fondo della Biblioteca Paolo Baffi). This not only details the works included in the collection, but also other materials, letters and archive documents connected with the books themselves. This is the last step in the project to recreate the set of books owned by Rossi, which he kept by his side in prison and during his internment.
