Welcome to ACM SIGMETRICS / IFIP Performance 2022! We are very happy to welcome you to the sylvan campus of IIT Bombay, adjoining the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (home to a variety of wildlife including leopards that often visit us on the campus), and the Powai and Vihar lakes (with resident crocodiles). The campus is home to a wide variety of birds and other flora and fauna and also about 15,000 students and 10,000 faculty and staff, a small city in a 400 acre campus. The campus is also home to the Victor Menezes Convention Centre (VMCC) that will host the in-person version of the campus. With waning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are moving back towards a normal year, albeit a bit slower than many of us would like. In this march towards pre-pandemic normalcy, we are experimenting with a hybrid conference and two mirrors in this year's edition of the conference. The main conference is being planned with two mirrors: the IST mirror will be a hybrid event with both in-person and online participation and will be a day event according to Mumbai time. All the contributed talks will be repeated in the purely online version that will be held during the EDT day. The keynotes and award talks are scheduled during the IST evening so that it also becomes accessible in the EDT morning. The workshops and tutorials are spread throughout the day and we have tried to minimize parallel events.

The viewpoint is that communication networking is about efficient resource sharing. The focus is on the three building blocks of communication networking, namely, multiplexing, switching and routing. The approach is analytical, with the discussion being driven by mathematical analyses of and solutions to specific engineering problems. The result? A comprehensive, effectively organized treatment of core engineering issues in communication networking. Written for both the networking professional and for the classroom, this book covers fundamental concepts in detail and places design issue

Over the past decade, the world has witnessed an explosion in the development and deployment of new wireless network technologies. From cellular mobile telephony to the ubiquitous "WiFi? networks in coffee-shops and airports, to the emerging WiMAX wireless broadband access networks, the menu of wireless access systems has become so comprehensive that wireline access to user devices may soon become a relic of the past. Wireless Networking serves as a one-stop view of cellular, WiFi, and WiMAX networks, as well as the emerging wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. Rather than provide descriptive

The approach is analytical, with the discussion being driven by mathematical analyses of and solutions to specific engineering problems. The result? A comprehensive, effectively organized treatment of core engineering issues in communication networking. Written for both the networking professional and for the classroom, this book covers fundamental concepts in detail and places design issues in context by drawing on real world examples from current technologies. Systematically uses mathematical models and analyses to drive the development of a practical understanding of core network engineering problems. Provides in-depth coverage of many current topics, including network calculus with deterministically-constrained traffic, congestion control for elastic traffic, packet switch queuing, switching architectures, virtual path routing, and routing for quality of service. Includes over 200 hands-on exercises and class-tested problems, dozens of schematic figures, a review of key mathematical concepts, and a glossary"--Provided by publisher.

Over the past decade, the world has witnessed an explosion in the development and deployment of new wireless network technologies. From cellular mobile telephony to the ubiquitous "WiFi" networks in coffee-shops and airports, to the emerging WiMAX wireless broadband access networks, the menu of wireless access systems has become so comprehensive that wireline access to user devices may soon become a relic of the past. Wireless Networking serves as a one-stop view of cellular, WiFi, and WiMAX networks, as well as the emerging wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. Rather than provide descriptive accounts of these technologies and standards, the book emphasizes conceptual perspectives on the modeling, analysis, design and optimization of such networks. Furthermore, the authors present wireless networking within the unifying framework of resource allocation, using simple abstractions of the underlying physical wireless communication. In short, Wireless Networking is an in-depth, exhaustive, and invaluable asset to anyone working in this rapidly evolving field. *Goes beyond descriptive and qualitative treatments, by presenting the foundations underlying the various wireless networking technologies *Provides abstractions, models and analyses of established and emerging wireless networks, thereby supplying the reader with a conceptual and quantitative treatment, thus ensuring longevity of the learning from this material *Aids comprehension by including over 120 figures, four appendices on the mathematics of the various models, several inline exercises, and extensive problem sets at the end of each chapter.
