The book contains the acts of a congress held in the Universitg of Oporto, 2013, March 22nd-23rd. Moving from the ways for constructing the image of a saint in the Middle Ages, it presents a comparison of models of sanctity. The analysis has been built mainly on the basis of existing sermons. There, the canon of virtues embodied by each saint the considered saints has been highlighted. Each scholar was requested of a record on changes in themes and spaces where the sources were written and abbove all used. Several similarities among saints of different times and geographical areas have been put on focus, such as common political and ecclesiological functions. The result is a strong portrait of the delicate play of representation and selfrepresentation of various Religious Orders during the last centuries of the Middle Ages.
