Compared to the conventional Rankine cycle using water, the ORC can create efficient expansion at low power, avoid superheater and offer higher thermal efficiency in low temperature application. Small-scale ORCs from several kWe to a few hundred kWe offer great potential for meeting the residential demand on heat and power, and are of growing interest in scientific and technical fields. However, one critical problem is the decreased device efficiency and cost-effectiveness that arises when the ORC is scaled down. In this thesis, the ORC is combined with low concentration-ratio solar collectors. The background, research trend, merits and importance of the solar ORC are described. To reduce the thermodynamic irreversibility and the cost of the system, three innovative solutions are proposed: solar ORC without heat transfer fluid (HTF), which employs two-stage collectors and heat storage units; hybrid solar power generation based on ORC and amorphous silicon cells; osmosis-driven solar ORC. Heat collection, storage and power conversion are optimized. The design, construction and test of a prototype are conducted, demonstrating the feasibility of the ORC for small-scale cogeneration. Special attention is paid to the variable operation and parameter design with respect to the condensation temperature.

This book presents the proceedings of CRIOCM 2022 (27th International Conference on Advancement of Construction Management and Real Estate), sharing the latest developments in real estate and construction management around the globe. The conference was organized by the Chinese Research Institute of Construction Management (CRIOCM) working in close collaboration with The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Written by international academics and professionals, the book discusses the latest achievements, research findings, and advances in frontier disciplines in the field of construction management and real estate. Covering a wide range of topics, including spatial planning and land use innovation, integration and application of BIM and GIS, low-carbon built environment, post-pandemic resilient cities development, housing and social governance, real estate market and urban policy, real estate finance and economics, intelligent construction and smart city, built environment for healthy living, and construction management in the post-COVID-19 era, the discussions provide valuable insights into the implementation of advanced construction project management and real estate market in China and abroad. The book offers an outstanding resource for academics and professionals.

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to ACM Multimedia 2022 Workshop on Quality of Experience in Visual Multimedia Applications - QoEVMA22. This year's workshop continues its tradition of being the premier forum for presentation of research results and experience reports on leading edge issues of Quality of Experience (QoE) on any visual multimedia, including QoE assessment on VoD for movies, dramas, variety shows, User Generated Contents(UGC) on social networks, live streaming videos for gaming/shopping/social, etc; QoE assessment for different video formats in multimedia services, including 2D, stereoscopic 3D, High Dynamic Range (HDR), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), 360, Free-Viewpoint Video(FVV), etc, and Key performance indicators (KPI) analysis for QoE. The mission of the workshop is to share novel idea or solution that fulfill the users' new requirements on quality of experience on advanced multimedia technology, and identify new directions for future research and development. The call for papers attracted submissions from China, Norway, France, Poland, India, Brazil, Morocco, and the United States. This year, we have received in total 14 submissions, and 8 papers were accepted. We also encourage attendees to attend the invited keynote, which is given by prof. Mylene Farias from University of Brasilia, with the title of Estimating the Quality of Experience of Immersive Contents.

2011 CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title Winner of the 2011 Best Book Award presented by the Chinese American Librarians AssociationWhat do the Chinese think of America? Why did Jiang Zemin praise the film Titanic? Why did Mao call FDR's envoy Patrick Hurley "a clown?" Why did the book China Can Say No (meaning "no" to the United States) become a bestseller only a few years after a replica of the Statue of Liberty was erected during protests in Tianamen Square?Jing Li's fascinating book explores Chinese perceptions of the United States during the twentieth century. As Li notes, these two very different countries both played significant roles in world affairs and there were important interactions between them. Chinese view of the United States were thus influenced by various and changing considerations, resulting in interpretations and opinions that were complex and sometimes contradictory. Li uncovers the historical, political, and cultural forces that have influenced these alternately positive and negative opinions. Revealing in its insight into the twentieth century, China's America is also instructive for all who care about the understandings between these two powerful countries as we move into the twenty-first century.
