Objective: The main objective of the present of study is to investigate the effectiness of Mi Paste Plus ( GC Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) as a remineralizing agent. According to the manufacturer, this new material increases the rate of mineralization of dental tissues. The properties of this cream are based on the incorporation of Recaldent (CPP-APP : Casein Phosphopeptide /Amorphous Calcium Phosphate), which is claimed by the manufacturer to have the potential to remineralize the tooth structure by transporting calcium and phosphate ions in the form of amorphous calcium phosphate, thus promoting ions exchanges with the tooth surface. Materials and methods: this study is divided into two parts: the first one include in vivo test, the other one tests the product in vitro. For the in vivo section, one type of patients is investigated: those whose underwent orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance, showing white-spots on removal of brackets. The study is conducted as a double-blind randomized trial in parallel groups according to a specific protocol with recruitment period of 6 months. The remineralizing cream containing Recaldent is compared to a placebo cream. The total number of subjects recommended for this study is 50 divided as follow: 25 in subgroups using the Mi Paste Plus and 25 in those using the placebo. The objective is to determine the effectiveness of Mi Paste Plus in reducing white-spots when using this remineralizing cream daily for 12 weeks. The aim of the in vitro study setup is to observe an alleged remineralization of teeth after using this paste. To do this, Raman micro spectroscopy is used. Extracted human molars undergo a different treatment before being analyzed. The Raman measurements are performed on both enamel and dentin for each sample. Each measurement resulted in a spectrum, which represents the chemical bonds within the material as a result of the vibration frequencies of the bond when excited by a laser light. After normalization of the curves, the phosphate peak is selected as an internal standard.
