"This book is an in-depth examination of the pneumatology of Origen of Alexandria. Justin J. Lee argues that Origen conceives of the Holy Spirit as a divine person, but inferior in nature in both person and work. This can be discerned from his understanding of the Son and Father, as well as the influence of Middle Platonism on his theological and cosmological framework. Ontologically, Origen's understanding of Trinity is a hierarchy of divine persons in which the greater ministers to the existence of the lower. Origen's pneumatology can be best understood by examining how he speaks about the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit participates in the divine work of salvation, reflecting an economic Trinity of shared work and will. The Spirit's primary role is to indwell and assist the saints. There are two major actions of the Holy Spirit's work: (1) the downward action of God, where the Spirit is the distributor of the divine gifts and graces and (2) the Spirit's upward work of revelation and sanctification, by which he leads the saints to the Son and Father. The Spirit thus serves as the practical and personal initiator of believers into the greater processes of salvation and deification."

The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic and Russian invasion of Ukraine highlight the vulnerabilities of supply chains that lack diversity and are dependent on foreign inputs. This report presents a short, exploratory analysis summarizing the state of critical materials - materials essential to economic and national security - using two case studies and policies available to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to increase the resilience of its supply chains in the face of disruption. China is the largest producer and processor of rare earth oxides (REOs) worldwide and a key producer of lithium-ion battery (LIB) materials and components. China's market share of REO extraction has decreased, but it still has large influence over the downstream supply chain-processing and magnet manufacturing. Chinese market share of the LIB supply chain mirrors REO supply bottlenecks. If it desired, China could effectively cut off 40 to 50 percent of global REO supply, affecting U.S. manufacturers and suppliers of DoD systems and platforms. Although a deliberate disruption is unlikely, resilience against supply disruption and building domestic competitiveness are important. The authors discuss plausible REO disruption scenarios and their hazards and synthesize insights from a "Day After . . ." exercise and structured interviews with stakeholders to identify available policy options for DoD and the U.S. government to prevent or mitigate the effects of supply disruptions on the defense industrial base (DIB) and broader U.S. economy. They explore these policies' applicability to another critical material supply chain - LIB materials - and make recommendations for policy goals.

The Aerial Investigation Research (AIR) pilot program was a Baltimore Police Department program in which manned aircraft equipped with cameras gathered evidence to support crime investigations. It ran from May through October 2020. The program was meant to provide evidence for four types of crimes covered by a memorandum of understanding (MOU): murders, shootings with nonfatal injuries, armed robberies, and carjackings. These crimes are referred to as MOU crimes. In this report, researchers describe AIR program implementation and the number of MOU crime investigations that were and were not supported by AIR program evidence. Researchers examined the association between receipt of AIR evidence and the rate at which crimes were cleared or solved and surveyed detectives on their opinions of the usefulness of the AIR program. Across MOU crime types, 27 percent of cases with AIR evidence had been cleared by arrest or exception, compared with 19 percent of cases for which no AIR evidence was available. Similarly, 32 percent of cases with AIR evidence were provisionally solved, compared with 23 percent of cases for which no AIR evidence was available. After constructing a more-interpretable comparison between AIR cases and a matched subset of non-AIR cases that were similar to the AIR cases in terms of when and where they occurred, AIR cases had statistically significantly higher clearance and solved rates than comparison cases.

The Baltimore Police Department's six-month Aerial Investigation Research (AIR) pilot program—in which manned aircraft equipped with cameras gathered visual records that could be used to support crime investigations—began on May 1, 2020, and continued until October 31, 2020. This pilot was designed to facilitate police investigations of four types of crime: homicides, nonfatal shootings, armed robberies, and carjackings. The AIR pilot program provided evidence for 158 cases, approximately 10 percent of all such targeted crimes reported in Baltimore during the period studied. For cases receiving AIR evidence packages, the provisional rates at which cases were cleared by arrest or exception was 24 percent—7 percentage points higher than similar cases that did not receive evidence packages. However, this difference was not statistically significant. For more-difficult cases (cases that did not close within the day of the crime or the next day), the difference in provisional clearance rates for AIR cases and matched comparison cases was also 7 percentage points—a statistically significant difference. However, because AIR evidence was available for a relatively small proportion of all crimes during the pilot, its association with higher clearance rates suggests that only approximately 11 additional crimes of the types targeted by the program might have been cleared with the use of AIR evidence packages. These are preliminary findings; some of these outcomes will change as BPD investigations continue. This preliminary report does not draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the AIR pilot; an outcome evaluation will be included in a final report.

The World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program (hereafter Program) provides medical monitoring and treatment for its Members: the responders and survivors who were at the WTC and related sites or located within the New York City disaster area during and after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Scientific research supported by the Program provides an evidence base for the health monitoring and clinical care of Members. In this report, the authors describe the findings and recommendations of a four-year study of the Program's research portfolio and its translational impact. They present results from a mixed methods assessment that integrates (1) a scoping review of nearly 1,000 peer-reviewed publications and thousands of pages of grey literature that reference research related to the health effects of 9/11, (2) stakeholder perspectives gathered through focus groups and interviews, and (3) a review of Program documentation. The report is intended to guide planning by Program leadership as it aims to maximize the impacts of Program research and achieve its goal of translating research into care for those affected by the attacks on 9/11.

This report documents analysis conducted across a variety of public nationally representative datasets to generate baseline estimates related to veterans' demographics, mental health, and labor market outcomes. The authors summarize relevant estimates and trends to support the work of policymakers and researchers focused on veteran-related issues and to inform public audiences interested in the welfare of the U.S. veteran population. The authors first explore trends and estimates focused on the demographics of the veteran population, drawing primarily from the American Community Survey. They next present estimates focused on the mental and behavioral health of veterans, drawing primarily from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Finally, the authors explore trends and estimates focused on veterans' participation in the labor market, drawing primarily from the Current Population Survey's Annual Social and Economic Supplement.
