This book offers a critical review of recent housing research and policy, and architectural theory and practice. It distinguishes between housing , dwelling process and homes, the meaning and usage of which can be understood in terms of a range of architecural, cultural, social and psychologial variables, which need to be examined in terms of an historical perspective. By discussing a broad span of theorical and methodological issues, each chapter contributes to a more comprhensive understanding of domestic architecture than has currently beenpresented in any book. These issues are discussed and illustrated by reference to a wide range of theory, research and practice from diverse disciplines, as well as to the author's studies over many years and in several countries.
