We live in the heyday of the gratuitous belches _ the meningitis of the tweets. Tom Lanoye is committed to there with verve against. In carving and well-documented polemics he unravels reputations and sabelt he misconceptions down. According to his motto: ' a writer without enemies is not a writer. ' sometimes he mercilessly hard, over years long go unpunished police brutality in Antwerp _ the case-Jonathan Jacob is the painful spine of the book. Sometimes he's elegiac _ about the parting of two good friends and idols: poet Gerrit Komrij and sports journalist Jan Wauters, who both also shared his love for South Africa. Sometimes he is hilarious _ on the final farewell to all Black Peter, even though he himself was born in a town called Sint-Niklaas. Furthermore, he talks about ' the worrying disappearance of Louis Paul Boon ', the underrated genius of Jef Geeraerts, three types of Rodenbach, ' the grief of Holland ', arts policy of Flanders (' State of the Farce ') and ' the hollow volleys of laughter ', after the attack on Charlie Hebdo. But what the topic may be, never is always subject to confirmation and Lanoye pulsates with its language. Tom Lanoye lives and works in Antwerp and Cape Town. He is known as a novelist, playwright, poet, screenwriter and performer. He has been translated into more than fifteen languages, there are pieces of him played in twenty countries, on its palmares are bestsellers as speechless, cardboard boxes, to war and happy slaves. ' But perhaps he is still the most brilliant as polemicist. ' (PZC) The press about rather critically Lanoye's work: ' reads like a Chronicle, colored by Homeric IRE, irony and hilarity. ' NRC Handelsblad'Polemieken as they are meant to be. Sharp, cutting and precise. ' The Green Amsterdammer'Inhoudelijk genius, brilliantly written. ' The Tijd'Scherpzinnige, hilarious and horrific accurate analysis. ' The Morgen'Hij dips his pen in vitriol and gives them ervanlangs. ' Free Nederland'Niet only witty, also darn good arguable. ' The Default
