Under the never-ending changes occurring in financial landscape which now go beyond financial 
performance incorporating other considerations associated with environmental, social, and 
technological factors into the decision-making process. Thus, the present research thesis is positioned
at the center of the above combining both the technology innovation and eco-friendly finance. The 
objective of this master thesis is to explore in-depth the potential role of financial technology in 
contribution to a more sustainable financial ecosystem in the European Union.
Due to the complexity of the subject, we adopted a qualitative study with an exploratory goal. Primary 
data is collected through semi-structured surveys circulated to experts in the field. The sample consists 
of seven interviewees who operate in different sectors comprising banks, Fin-Tech companies, and 
consulting firms. These valuable insights are analyzed and discussed using an identified set of themes 
to fully cover the topic, and to contribute to theory to implement the inductive approach we have 
chosen.
Our key findings extracted from our study confirm the link binding financial technology with 
sustainability in Europe showcasing that, in addition to the positive outcomes, technology have the 
potential to advance eco-friendly practices in the future if treated correctly in term of challenges 
associated with the transformative force of financial technology, with obviously is possible the help of 
employees’ engagement and collaborative force. We have been able to identify relevant future studies 
judged to be essential to clear the fog on the subject.

L’année 2020 est une année de tous les changements et c’est avec enthousiasme que j’ai repris des études de manière à conserver une attitude d’apprentissage. Mon choix s’est porté sur un master complémentaire en gestion des risques financiers à HEC Liège, s’agissant de l’université de ma ville et celle m’ayant déjà formé.
Pour obtenir ce diplôme, l’étape d’écriture d’un mémoire est une case obligatoire pour tous les étudiants. A cette fin, j’ai décidé d’explorer un sujet d’actualité qui n’est d’autre que la crise de la covid-19. Il s’agit du thème par excellence pour l’année 2020/2021, qui, couplé avec mon attrait pour le monde de la finance et le marché des actions notamment, à donner naissance à ce sujet de mémoire : l’impact de la crise sanitaire sur la bourse.
Afin d’obtenir des réponses, ce travail est divisé en trois parties. Tout d’abord, je donne du contexte au sujet que nous abordons avec de brèves explications sur la maladie et les marchés financiers.
Ensuite, la deuxième partie constitue une revue de la littérature afin d’exposer les différentes études publiées. Celles-ci donnent des indications quant au comportement des marchés financiers et des investisseurs lors de crises sanitaires.
Enfin, j’expose mon analyse sur la problématique de ce travail et j’explique les différents impacts obtenus. Cette partie constitue donc en l’application d’un modèle quantitatif.
Par sa publication, cette thèse a donc pour objectif d’apporter des éléments de réponses à la crise de la covid-19 et de son impact sur les marchés financiers.
