In "the democracy of objects", Levi Bryant proposes a flat ontology where objects of all types and at numerous different scales exist in dynamic interaction, irreductible to one another. Drawing on the object-oriented ontology of Graham Harman, as well as the thought of Aristotle, Deleuze, Lacan, Bhaskar, Latour, Luhmann, and the developmental systems theorists, Bryant develops a realist ontology that he calls "onticology." Objects are dynamic systems that relate to the world under conditions of operational closure ; human subjects themselves ar simply one variant of objects.
