"The present volume is one of the products of a lecture series generously financed by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange. Following a chronological order from the Shang dynasty to the Qing dynasy, these lectures, delivered during the 2013/14 academic year, aim to offer a glimpse into some new developments in the study of Chinese history and culture. Six eminent Sinologist were invited to Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) to give talks on what they considered important innovations in their respective research fields."
