This summers major exhibition at Louisiana focuses on architecture, art and culture on the African continent. By pinpointing a number of judiciously selected examples from a cultural here and now, the exhibition sheds light on the diversity and complexity of the part of Africa south of the Sahara Desert. Through a number of projects spread over the African continent the exhibition tells a story of the new architecture of different regions ; with its various proposals for accommodating local traditions, strengthen the existing ones and create solutions for the future. The exhibition presents a sensuous architectural scenography and a number of installations, where the form, scale and space of architecture can be perceived on a 1:1 scale. Life around the buildings is also part of the architecture. In the exhibition art, photography, film and other arts create perspective to the architects' efforts - and helps to refine our image of this part of the world. The AFRICA exhibition is the third chapter in Louisiana';s major series Architecture, Culture and Identity. In 2012, the museum unveiled the first chapter ; NEW NORDIC ; and in 2014, it turned attention toward the Arab world with the ARAB CONTEMPORARY exhibition. Exhibition: Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek, Denmark (25.6.2015 - 25.10.2015).

The cave - both as a physical space and a metaphor - is a provocation to test the limits of contemporary architecture. It invites new thinking about how architecture can adapt to a more community-focused, ecologically sensitive, low-carbon future. This publication and the accompanying sixth exhibition in The Architect's Studio series at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art are dedicated to the Kenyan architects Cave_bureau. In it, Stella Mutegi and Kabage Karanja from Cave_bureau describe eight of their projects. Stunning visuals are accompanied by essays poignantly asking questions about the future of architecture in the age of the Anthropocene, the effects of colonial extraction, the erasure on African architecture and the specificity of continents and geographic spaces.

The ELEMENTAL studio, headed by artistic director Alejandro Aravena and based in the capital of Chile, Santiago, is untraditionally composed of people with a variety of skills and abilities. Their analytical approach to architecture and urban planning has led them towards original solutions to social challenges, such as the housing shortage in Santiago's economically disadvantaged neigh- bourhoods. Instead of designing cheap housing, ELEMENTAL builds "half houses" at the same cost and enables buyers to build the other halves themselves. The combination of good design and the engagement of the buyers creates more sustainable housing areas. In the series The Architect's Studio the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition on the ELEMENTAL studio, curated by Mette Marie Kallehauge and Kjeld Kjeldsen. The richly illustrated publication will portray ELEMENTAL's working methods and work philosophy, as well as showing examples of their most important projects.

The fifth exhibition Louisiana's series The Architect?s Studio presents Forensic Architecture, an interdisciplinary research agency, based at Goldsmiths, University of London. Working in the intersection of architecture, law, journalism, human rights and the environment, Forensic Architecture investigates conflicts and crimes around the world.00Forensic Architecture is dedicated to solving crimes against civilians, in part by analyzing architecture and landscapes based on the idea, and the awareness, that not only people but all matter has a memory, and that all memory is bound up with spatial perception. Intent on building models for looking at the world, their work is a far cry from the usual practice of architecture.00Exhibition: Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Denmark (20.05. - 23.10.2022).
