Die Verjüngung des Waldes nimmt eine zentrale Rolle in der nachhaltigen Waldbewirtschaftung ein, bleibt im Diskurs aber oft unberücksichtigt. Dieser Band stellt verschiedene Aspekte zum historischen und zukünftigen Reproduktionsvermögen des österreichischen Waldes und damit der Ressourcenbasis für die Holzwirtschaft angesichts des Klimawandels in den Mittelpunkt. Die Veränderungen im Wald hinsichtlich Resilienz, gesellschaftlicher Erwartungen sowie Biodiversität, Waldbewirtschaftung, Ressourcenverfügbarkeit und Innovationsbedarf der Holzwirtschaft werden kontextualisiert. Die Herausgeber Dr. Franziska Hesser leitet seit 2016 das Forschungsteam Marktanalyse und Innovationsforschung bei Wood K plus (Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH) und ist an der Universität für Bodenkultur Wien in der Lehre tätig. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die Nachhaltigkeitsbewertung für Innovationsprozesse in der Forst- und Holzwirtschaft. Dr. Martin Braun forscht an der Schnittstelle von Forstwirtschaft und Naturschutz am Bundesforschungs- und Ausbildungszentrum für Wald, Naturgefahren und Landschaft und lehrt an der Universität für Bodenkultur Wien zu Holzmärkten, Innovation und themenverwandten Gebieten.
