Deze masterproef gaat in het eerste deel na welke handelsstromen in landbouwgoederen er bestaan van India naar de EU. Wanneer blijkt dat deze handelsstromen aanzienlijk lager uitvallen dan klassieke handelstheorie ons zou doen verwachten, onderzoekt een tweede deel wat daarvoor de redenen zijn. Achtereenvolgens worden factoren op de Indiase markt, factoren op de wereldmarkt en een speciale categorie van handelsbelemerringen (standaarden voor voedselveiligheid) onderzocht.
