The purpose of this book is to offer the reader a phonological description of the vowel qualities in force in the first phase (troubadour period) of archaic Portuguese from the analysis of the rhymes and spelling of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, by Afonso X, the Wise, King of Leon and Castile, elaborated in the second half of the 13th century.
