CubeSats are a type of nanosatellites. The low cost of these small satellites make space missions available to the broad public. The Aether Student CubeSat team is developing their own CubeSat, focusing on a safe re-entry back into the earths atmosphere. This thesis is about the telemetry data management system of this satellite. Telemetry data consists of the sensor data used to monitor the satellite during its mission. After an introduction where the projects gets situated, the thesis follows the data through the system. It starts by explaining the CAN bus protocol, which is used to receive the data from the sensor controller. Next up is the processing of the received data, where Huffman coding is chosen as most suitable compression algorithm. This algorithm gets further improved by preprocessing the data using delta encoding. The following step is storing the processed data. Different types of memory are researched, and NAND flash is chosen for this implementation. Another factor of storing the data is ensuring its integrity. This is done both in the memory storing the data, as well as by using multiple NAND chips for physical redundancy. Following this, the implementation is discussed. Here, the details of the practical implementation are explained. Lastly, the the main conclusions are revisited, and future work is suggested.
