*Oogst uit het lab* gaat over nieuwe gentechnieken in landbouw en voedselproductie en over de maatschappelijke betekenis daarvan. Het is geschreven voor een breed publiek.

Genetisch gemanipuleerde soja, octrooien op genen, synthetische biologie, biobrandstoffen uit grassen en transgene kippen met resistentie voor vogelgriep. Zo maar een greep uit de ontwikkelingen in de (witte en groene) biotechnologie. Oogst uit het lab laat zien welke technologische ontwikkelingen er al zijn en welke we kunnen verwachten. Wat kunnen we leren van de afgelopen jaren en wat hebben we daaraan voor de toekomst?

De auteurs achten innovaties in landbouw en voedselproductie bittere noodzaak; de toekomst is er een mét agrobiotechnologie en gentechnologie. Maar dat kan niet zonder maatschappelijk draagvlak. Dit boek levert een bijdrage aan een hernieuwde zoektocht naar dat draagvlak.
