This brief survey of some aspects of regional development experience in the United States presents a comprehensive detailed historical analysis of the total experience in U.S. regional development. The study does not attempt to cover the general literature on economic development, location theory, or regional planning. From the wealth of material and experience available, an effort was made to focus attention on those problems which seemed to offer the most relevance to students and planners of economic development in other nations.
