"Linked by their histories of conflict, the burgeoning contemporary art scenes of Vietnam and Cambodia have not yet garnered significant global attention. In 'The City in Time,' Pamela Corey focuses on these artists and their contexts, suggesting alternative ways of understanding contemporary artistic practices within a region that lingers in international perceptions as perpetually 'post-war.' Focusing on Ho Chi Minh and Phnom Penh, Corey explores how these key Southeast Asian cities shape artistic practices while the art simultaneously consolidates images of the cities.
