This book constitutes the proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization, IPCO 2013, held in Valparaíso, Chile, in March 2013. The 33 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 98 submissions. The conference is a forum for researchers and practitioners working on various aspects of integer programming and combinatorial optimization with the aim to present recent developments in theory, computation, and applications. The scope of IPCO is viewed in a broad sense, to include algorithmic and structural results in integer programming and combinatorial optimization as well as revealing computational studies and novel applications of discrete optimization to practical problems.

Theidea ofa refereedconferencefor the mathematicalprogrammingcommunity was proposed by Ravi Kannan and William Pulleyblank to the Mathematical Programming Society (MPS) in the late 1980s. Thus IPCO was born, and MPS has sponsored the conference as one of its main events since IPCO I at the University of Waterloo in 1990. The conference has become the main forum for recent results in Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization in the non-Symposium years. This volume compiles the papers presented at IPCO XIV held June 9-11, 2010, at EPFL in Lausanne. The scope of papers considered for IPCO XIV is likely broader than at IPCO I. This is sometimes due to the wealth of new questions and directions brought from related areas. It can also be due to the successful application of “math programming” techniques to models not tra- tionally considered. In any case, the interest in IPCO is greater than ever and this is re?ected in both the number (135) and quality of the submissions. The ProgrammeCommittee with 13 memberswasalsoIPCO’slargest. We thankthe members of the committee, as well as their sub-reviewers, for their exceptional (and time-consuming) work and especially during the online committee meeting held over January. The process resulted in the selection of 34 excellent research papers which were presented in non-parallel sessions over three days in L- sanne. Unavoidably, this has meant that many excellent submissions were not able to be included.

This volume contains the papers selected for presentation at IPCO 2002, the NinthInternationalConferenceonIntegerProgrammingandCombinatorial- timization, Cambridge, MA (USA), May 27–29, 2002. The IPCO series of c- ferences highlights recent developments in theory, computation, and application of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. IPCO was established in 1988 when the ?rst IPCO program committee was formed. IPCO is held every year in which no International Symposium on Ma- ematical Programming (ISMP) takes places. The ISMP is triennial, so IPCO conferences are held twice in every three-year period. The eight previous IPCO conferences were held in Waterloo (Canada) 1990, Pittsburgh (USA) 1992, Erice (Italy) 1993, Copenhagen (Denmark) 1995, Vancouver (Canada) 1996, Houston (USA) 1998, Graz (Austria) 1999, and Utrecht (The Netherlands) 2001. In response to the call for papers for IPCO 2002, the program committee received 110 submissions, a record number for IPCO. The program committee met on January 7 and 8, 2002, in Aussois (France), and selected 33 papers for inclusion in the scienti?c program of IPCO 2002. The selection was based on originality and quality, and re?ects many of the current directions in integer programming and combinatorial optimization research.

This volume contains the papers accepted for publication at IPCO X, the Tenth International Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization, held in New York City, New York, USA, June 7–11, 2004.The IPCO series of conferences presents recent results in theory, computation and applications of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. These conferences are sponsored by the Mathematical Programming Society, and are held in those years in which no International Symposium on Mathematical Programming takes place. IPCO VIII was held in Utrecht (The Netherlands) and IPCO IX was held in Cambridge (USA). A total of 109 abstracts, mostly of very high quality, were submitted. The Program Committee accepted 32, in order to meet the goal of having three days of talks with no parallel sessions. Thus, many excellent abstracts could not be accepted. The papers in this volume have not been refereed. It is expected that revised versions of the accepted papers will be submitted to standard scientific journals for publication. The Program Committee thanks all authors of submitted manuscripts for their support of IPCO. March 2004 George Nemhauser Daniel Bienstock Organization IPCO X was hosted by the Computational Optimization Research Center (CORC), Columbia University.

Since its start in 1990, the IPCO conference series (held under the auspices of theMathematicalProgrammingSociety)hasbecomeanimportantforumforthe presentation of recent results in Integer Programming and Combinatorial Op- mization. This volume compiles the papers presented at IPCO XI, the eleventh conference in this series, held June 8–10, 2005, at the Technische Universit¨ at Berlin. The high interest in this conference series is evident in the large number of submissions. For IPCO XI, 119 extended abstracts of up to 10 pages were submitted. During its meeting on January 29–30, 2005, the Program Committee carefully selected 34 contributions for presentation in non-parallel sessions at the conference. The ?nal choices were not easy at all, since, due to the limited number of time slots, many very good papers could not be accepted. During the selection process the contributions were refereed according to the standards of refereed conferences. As a result of this procedure, you have in your hands a volume that contains papers describing high-quality research e?orts. The page limit for contributions to this proceedings volume was set to 15. You may ?nd full versions of the papers in scienti?c journals in the near future. We thank all the authors who submitted papers. Furthermore, the Program Committee is indebted to the many reviewers who, with their speci?c expertise, helped a lot in making the decisions.
