The Palgrave Handbook of Power, Gender, and Psychology takes an intersectional feminist approach to the exploration of psychology and gender through a lens of power. The invisibility of power in psychological research and theorizing has been critiqued by scholars from many perspectives both within and outside the discipline. This volume addresses that gap. The handbook centers power in the analysis of gender, but does so specifically in relation to psychological theory, research, and praxis. Gathering the work of sixty authors from different geographies, career stages, psychological sub-disciplines, methodologies, and experiences, the handbook showcases creativity in approach, and diversity of perspective. The result is a work featuring a chorus of different voices, including diverse understandings of feminisms and power. Ultimately, the handbook presents a case for the importance of intersectionality and power for any feminist psychological endeavor. Eileen L. Zurbriggen is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, USA where she is also affiliated with the Feminist Studies department. Her most recent book, co-authored with Ella Ben Hagai, is Queer Theory and Psychology: Gender, Sexuality, and Transgender Identities (2022). Rose Capdevila is Professor of Psychology at the Open University, UK. Her current research is on gender in digital spaces and the history of UK feminist psychology. Rose is a past co-editor of Feminism & Psychology and co-authored A Feminist Companion to Research Methods in Psychology (2022) with Hannah Frith.

Handbook of International Feminisms Perspectives on Psychology, Women, Culture, and Rights Alexandra Rutherford, Rose Capdevila, U. Vindhya, and Ingrid Palmary, Editors Although feminism has influenced psychological theory and practice across much of the world, their intersection has rarely been an easy one - particularly in post-colonial, and more recently, globalizing and transnational contexts. The Handbook of International Feminisms offers a dynamic and nuanced picture of the diversity of feminism and its challenges around the world, both inside and outside of academia. As seen in these pages, the very concept of feminist psychology' varies widely, as do the conditions under which it struggles or flourishes. Resistance to feminism may come from psychology in particular or the culture at large, in clashes between egalitarian ideals and longstanding cultural beliefs and practices that are inimical to women's interests. In some countries, the emergence of psychology and/or feminism is often seen as Western interference rather than welcome innovation. In others, activist psychologists are pressured to downplay aspects of their work or risk marginalization by the mainstream. Throughout this volume, the coverage is balanced between local context and global connection and commitment. Chapters analyze current and historical developments from: Brazil. ¢Canada. India.

Q methodology is an empirical approach designed as a means to study subjective aspects of social concerns and, often, to identify potential solutions. It has origins in psychology but has been applied widely in many disciplines, from geography to nursing, politics, and environmental studies, but has been especially popular in the health sciences. It is able to ascertain - in rich detail - the different perspectives that can be expressed about a particular topic. The subject matter can vary enormously, but in each case, the Q methodologist will be interested in capturing subjectivity; whatever the subject matter at issue, there will be different subjective perspectives on it. Participants are asked to sort items or statements about the issue under investigation into the shape of a quasi-normal grid, which then are factor-analysed by person to identify patterns across sorts. Although it utilises statistical pattern analysis (usually principal components analysis or centroid), it is often classified as a qualitative method. This entry uses a simplified study of values to provide an overview of Q methodology in terms of seven simple steps, from the formulation of an appropriate research question to the interpretation of the resulting understandings on the issue under investigation. These steps are then revisited to provide an overview of some of the key issues within the Q methodological literature.
