Ces Perspectives offrent une analyse accessible et synthétique des réalités de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Elles s’adressent à un large public et illustrent leur propos par de nombreuses cartes. Elles se distinguent également par leur triple approche. Tout d’abord, l’ouvrage dégage à travers une analyse transversale les principaux enjeux et défis auxquels la région est confrontée et formule des propositions pour les relever. Il adopte ensuite une approche régionale et dresse un panorama des ressources ouest-africaines. L’analyse sort du strict champ économique pour explorer d’autres domaines, en particulier les ressources naturelles et le capital social, culturel et humain. Elle montre que les ressources de l’Afrique de l’Ouest sont nombreuses, variées et souvent partagées entre plusieurs de ses 18 pays. Enfin, ce livre apporte une contribution originale à la réflexion : il donne la parole à six témoins ouest-africains engagés dans le développement de leur région. Divers par leur origine et leur histoire personnelle, ces derniers ébauchent de réelles visions pour l’avenir des sociétés.
