From the growing interest in the relationship between epilepsy and psychiatry, two main areas emerge. First is the academic debate as to whether or not psychopathology is interlinked with the biological processes of epilepsy and, secondly, how should we manage at a clinical level the cognitive and behavioural disturbances which arise in epileptic patients? With broad emphasis on these two themes, this book presents some of the more controversial and less well documented aspects of this disorder, discussing topics such as personality disorders, aggression, sexuality, hypergraphia and the unwanted effects of anticonvulsant drugs. Psychiatrists, neurologists and all those concerned with the treatment and care of epileptic patients should read this book which, in presenting the latest information and the areas of controversy, will encourage new fields for research.
